In house of Dark Shadows the audience is privy to the scheme of a wily caretaker who happens upon a map he believes leads to an ancient treasure buried on the grounds of Collinwood. The map brings him to the Collins family crypt where rather than treasure, the caretaker accidentally releases something dark from its eternal bondage.

That same night a young woman is attacked at the main gate of the estate. Left comatose from loss of blood caused by mysterious twin puncture wounds on her neck.....the ...

While Stephen King really does not do monster movies I personally think he has had some great scary type movies. Some of my favorites are:

The Shining

The Stand

Carrie

Pet Semetery

There are more but can not think of them right now. I think he is a fascinating writer and have read most of his books.

I thought this was a great story with a very ghoulish kind of ending. Al Pacino was great as the devil and Keanu Reeves who was his son made a great counter-part.

Believe it or not there was another movie I saw as a kid called "The Devil's Deciple" which scared the hell out of me because the end scene is a woman melting on a staircase and when her eyes rolled down the staircase I about jumped out of my skin.

The Candyman

Based on a story by Clive Barker and skillfully written and directed by Bernard Rose, Candyman rises above most horror films by eerily suggesting that some urban legends--in this case a particularly frightening one--have a spooky basis in reality. The legend of the Candyman is a potent one around the high-rise tenements of Chicago's Cabrini-Green housing complex, where the residents speak of a dark, ominous figure who appears when his victims say his name five times in front of a mirror, then ...

My favorite monster has always been the werewolf. I loved the original Werewolf movies with Lon Chaney Jr. Recently I saw a pretty good one called Blood and Chocolate. I also like the movie Wolf with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfiffer. Werewolf stories and films have always interested me.

The Evil Dead Trilogy

Cult Fiction Horror Classics. The first two, aptly named Evil Dead I and Evil Dead II, are very cheesy, very campy, and very funny. OK. I think the Nightmare on Elm Street series is funny (at least the first three), so, maybe, funny is not the word. They are entertaining.

In the third movie of the trio, Army of Darkness, the filmmakers leave behind their college video equipment and move into real movie making. This is my favorite of all of them.

Each movie stars Bruce Campell. ...

One of the very, very BEST suspense movies ever made. I've watched Psycho, Halloween, The Lost Boys and many other movies alone. I could not watch this one by myself.
